Seasonless

Regardless of whether you live in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are changing, and with them, the associated clothes. If you live in an equatorial zone, then you’re exempt from this light blog post! 🏝

This year, I took on a challenge to reimagine how to deal with the seasonal wardrobe change by getting rid of it completely. It's always stressful to find time twice a year to box and unbox clothes for the season ahead, plus I find it very boring. Hence, the goal this year was to reduce my overall wardrobe so that everything was at hand regardless of the season.

So, I embarked on what has been a titanic challenge (I'm being a little sarcastic, but my inner self tried to avoid it throughout the whole sabbatical). I discovered I had been wearing a maximum of 20% of my clothes over the past year, so this was the perfect opportunity to pick up every single item, understand why I hadn't used it in a while, and then decide whether to keep it. The task was made more pleasant by doing it with a friend (thanks Carla), who suggested using Marie Kondo's philosophy of trying on each item and seeing if it sparked joy. I found that effective, and a good chunk of my old clothes are now in better hands.

The art of minimalism is something I'm appreciating more and more. For me, it’s the idea that our lives are not dedicated to fulfilling the needs of our things, but rather creating and selecting only the stuff that adds value to life.
